America’s Frontier History Expedition
Between 1775 and 1795 an estimated 250,000-300,000 people of varying backgrounds, cultures, and social classes made the dangerous journey along the Wilderness Road in the first steps of westward expansion. The Boone Society will be recreating this journey with a handful of riders on horseback. They will begin at Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton, TN on May 7th and will end in Lexington, KY on May 30th.
The group will be at the Wilderness Road Blockhouse at Natural Tunnel State Park on May 10th, 11th, and 12th. From 4pm-8pm on the 10th and 11th the Blockhouse will be open to the public and the horseback riders will be demonstrating various frontier skills.
